Position Overview :

Join our team as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and make a meaningful impact by providing essential mental health care services to women and children in our Residential Treatment Program for Women and Children in South Los Angeles.

At JWCH, we are dedicated to improving the health status and well-being of under-served populations in Los Angeles County.

This position is funded through a contract with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, Substance Abuse Prevention and Control Division.

Qualifications and Experience :

  • Experience working with pediatrics, family practice, and chronic disease treatment compliance issues.
  • Knowledgeable about chronic diseases and experienced in addressing high rates of depression and anxiety, especially within a predominantly Spanish-speaking population.
  • Familiarity with the local geographic area to facilitate collaboration with other agencies.

Principal Responsibilities :

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to provide comprehensive mental health and addiction services to women and their children.
  • Conduct screenings and assessments to determine appropriate level of care and need for psychotropic medication.
  • Provide psychoeducation on mental health and addiction, and facilitate therapeutic interventions.
  • Oversee crisis intervention and ensure the well-being and safety of individuals involved.
  • Maintain documentation of services using Electronic Health Record (SAGE) and prepare required reports.

Requirements :

  • Three (3) years’ experience working in substance abuse & mental health field with women, children & their families.
  • Master’s degree in social work from an accredited college or university.
  • Two (2) year post license from the State of California, Behavioral of Behavioral Sciences.
  • Cultural competent working with minority, low income and vulnerable population.
  • Able to work Holidays and other nontraditional work days and hours.
  • Bilingual capabilities in English and Spanish preferred.

Skills and Knowledge :

  • Knowledgeable and trained in evidenced based treatment, including Helping Women Recover, Motivational Interviewing, Celebrating Families, Nurturing Parenting and Seeking Safety.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the impact of trauma on behavioral and medical conditions.
  • Knowledge of women who experienced homelessness, addiction, trauma, and substance abuse.
  • Excellent documentation, oral and written communication skills.

Note :

If you become a JWCH provider, you may be able to participate in Loan Repayment Program . A majority of our clinics are NHSC approved sites.

The National Health Service Corp may be accepting applications Loan Repayment Program awards. The program is open to licensed primary care medical, dental, and mental and behavior health providers who are employed or have accepted an offer of employment at an NHSC-approved site.

Awardees receive up to $50,000 in exchange for two years of service if they practice in a HPSA of 14 above (Tier I). Awardees can also receive up to $30,0000 in exchange for two years of service if they practice in a HPSA of 13 and below (Tier II).
