Position : Controls Engineer

Location : Fort Wayne, IN

Compensation : Base Salary $85,000-$100,000 plus annual bonus

Position Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or applicable Engineering Technology
  • Experience with programming PLC’s, and interfacing with industrial controls.
  • Knowledge of Allen-Bradly, Siemens, Inductive Automation, Wonder ware, WinCC, and SQL Databases, etc.
  • Knowledge of programing languages (Python)
  • Travel as needed (approximately 10%)
  • Excellent communicate skills (Verbal and Written)
  • Manufacturing experience
  • Project Management experience

Position Responsibilities :

  • Design, specify, procure, program, install and maintain all control systems for the Fort Wayne manufacturing facility.
  • Ensure control systems comply with company and site standards, including safety reviews and Management of Change.Write PLC / HMI programs for equipment installations, modifications.

Support replacement of obsolete components.

Assist the development and execution of the 5-year plan for capital improvements to the control and data collection systems.

Prioritize the use of improvement money, select equipment and contractors, oversee all improvement activities, and authorize payments for completed work.

  • Support the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and Industrial Automation masterplan.
  • Assist engineers in the design and execution of controls and communication systems for all capital projects in the plant.

Develop and install new safety devices to ensure operator and machine safety.

  • Work with Maintenance Manager to identify controls skills gaps and training needed for Maintenance Department employees.
  • Troubleshoot and support 24 / 7 PLC, HMI, Machine Controls and MES system as necessary.
  • Assist in the startup and debug of MES, and PLC / HMI changes.
  • Provide ongoing training & documentation for engineers and maintenance technicians.
  • Update current control systems and devices to meet MES needs.Select and install instrumentation that allows for MES data collection.
