Position Summary :

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Coordinator.

NYU Langone Health is seeking an experienced Research Coordinator to assist with research and quality improvement activities for two major, overlapping programs that aim to equitably improve the health and well-being of diverse populations : (1) the multi-institutional Collective WELL research program, and (2) the Beyond Bridges initiative in Brooklyn, NY.

The Collective WELL research program applies epidemiologic methods to identify positive, community-level psychosocial constructs associated with health outcomes, and then applies complexity science and implementation science to design, implement, and study the effects of community-based interventions to improve health and well-being.

Example projects include : developing a novel well-being adjusted life year metric; understanding the effects of collective well-being on rates of cardiovascular disease;

assessing race / ethnic differences in levels of well-being; optimizing the implementation of a community-clinic linkage model.

Beyond Bridges is one of NYU Langone's highest priority projects, aiming to create community-clinical partnerships that improve the health of a diverse, multi-ethnic, multi-lingual immigrant population in the Sunset Park neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY.

Example projects include : linking community members into primary care; creating pipeline programs into healthcare fields;

diversifying research participant recruitment; designing and implementing community-clinical linkages to assess and address health and social needs.

The Research Coordinator will report to a Manager / Director and under the general direction of the program Principal Investigator(s) and will be responsible for assisting with a wide range of research activities, quality improvement activities, quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis, and other data- and information-related tasks related to projects across these programs.

Job Responsibilities :

  • Create quantitative surveys and forms for data collection and entry in REDCap database.
  • Administer quantitative surveys to relevant people and enter data accordingly
  • Review data to be entered, edits obvious errors and obtains missing information; Suggest changes and additions to established data fields, as needed, to supervisor.
  • Conduct qualitative data collection, including performing in-depth interviews and facilitating focus groups
  • Assist with qualitative data analysis and synthesis, applying inductive and deductive approaches to qualitative analysis as well as mixed methods approaches
  • Supports the development of project materials including surveys, evaluation tools, handouts, presentations, flyers and other materials
  • Perform literature searches, synthesize current literature, and maintain relevant bibliography for the Collective WELL research program and to inform Beyond Bridges program development
  • Help to prepare presentation materials for lectures and presentation, utilizing PowerPoint
  • Help to create, update, and maintain project tracking tools for ongoing assessment of timelines, tasks, and within-team communication
  • Utilizes appropriate sources, gathers and compiles data, statistics and other materials as needed; Prepares requested data summaries thoroughly and accurately for quality improvement and required reporting.
  • Reviews data with supervisor and then provides reports to all parties (e.g., data and safety monitoring committee, the principal investigator, sponsoring agency, etc.

on the progress of the study. Reviews any issues that deviate from standard policy and procedure for each study or project evaluation plan with supervisor.

  • Ensures protocol compliance, that is, that standard steps regarding eligibility criteria, follow-up, and required documentation is consistently followed in the time frame specified for each study or project evaluation plan.
  • Foster relationships with community-based organizations and providers serving priority populations
  • Assist in outreach and participant recruitment; Screen potential patients / subjects for eligibility to the study; Assist with the informed consent process;

Conduct study visits, obtain and document information within the time frame specified.

  • Initiate and continue regular contact with participants; encourages visit reminders and compliance to research; ensures contact with participants and their families is courteous, effective, professional and cooperative.
  • Monitor any outward effects or issues regarding patient / subject safety and report this to the supervisor and / or Principal Investigator
  • Collaborate with various personnel that may be involved in assisting with specific aspects in the study
  • Attend appropriate trainings, including required IRB and HIPAA tutorial; Provide material for and / or initiate IRB correspondence.
  • Record IRB approved subject study reimbursements according to standard operating procedures.
  • Responds to requests in a timely manner, gives and receives correct information, encourages required dialog and follow through
  • Recognize and identify problems, appropriately escalate issues to supervisor as needed
  • Assist Dr. Roy with other research-related or program-related tasks as necessary, including literature reviews, preparation of grant applications, and manuscript submissions.

Minimum Qualifications :

To qualify you must have a Bachelor degree or equivalent in business administration, health care administration or related field.

Minimum of two years of progressively responsible project coordination experience, preferably in a research setting.

Proficiency in using various Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Access, Power Point and Outlook. Familiar with Internet applications.

Effective oral, written, communication, interpersonal skills.

Ability to interface effectively with all levels of management and must work and communicate effectively with both internal and external customers.

Ability to work within a team environment as well as independently.

Commitment to continuous learning as required by department administration.

Ability to operate research related equipment

Ability to work and make decisions independently.

Time management skills and ability to multitask.

Ability to identify, analyze and solve problems : Ability to work well under pressure.

Preferred Qualifications :

Master's degree in public health or related field plus at least two years related experience in the field. Effective and clear communication and strong interpersonal skills.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Experience working with community-based social service organizations. Demonstrated ability to create figures, graphs, diagrams or other visuals to clearly communicate data, ideas, and processes.

Fluent in one or more of the following languages, in addition to English : Mandarin, Cantonese, Spanish, French, Creole, Arabic, Russian, Polish.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements.

The salary range for the role is $62,400.00 - $98,218.33 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.

The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses / incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
