Role Overview
ID.me is looking for a Principal Security Engineer to join our growing security team. This role involves advancing the digital identity ecosystem by combining software and systems engineering to design, build, run, and automate distributed, fault-tolerant security solutions at scale.
Responsibilities
- Exercise a longer-term, strategic outlook, influencing teams within Security and peer teams.
- Set technology direction and roadmap for the development and improvement of security controls.
- Lead system and solution design for security controls across the team.
- Optimize security systems for future needs.
- Identify and drive opportunities to improve control effectiveness and efficiency.
- Ensure security controls are optimized for ease of use by security operators and end users.
- Maintain essential cross-team and cross-functional relationships necessary for the team's success.
- Be a role model for the team and shape the culture.
- Help, teach, and mentor less experienced engineers.
- Define standards and best practices for the team.
- Improve the quality of the team's output.
Ideal Qualifications
- 12+ years of experience in security engineering, systems engineering, software engineering, or SRE roles.
- 7+ years experience engineering, running, and automating security controls.
- Strong background with securing public cloud technologies, preferably GCP and AWS.
- Strong understanding of cloud security and infrastructure security best practices.
- Experience with security data lakes or SIEM solutions.
- Experience with data security, network security, and zero trust access solutions.
- Experience with authentication, authorization, and access control technologies.
- Experience in Linux / Unix administration and solid networking knowledge.
- Experience in scripting or software development.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code.
Bonus Experience
- Experience with CI / CD practices and platform tools.
- Experience with Information Security Compliance.
- Industry security certifications.

The annual base salary for this role is based on experience, skills, and geographic location. Company bonus, equity, and benefits are available depending on the role.
