Job Description
The Mental Health Coordinator II (MHC II) is responsible to coordinate a variety of services including but not limited to individual finances, activities, program services, positive behavioral support needs, family involvement, education / vocational programs, health care / nutrition and household management.
What You Get to Do :
- Staff scheduling.
- Assist with the supervisor in maintaining consistency in programming, individual care, and communication with staff and support team members.
- Carry out the responsibilities and duties of the behavioral support staff during all direct care shifts.
- Provide hands-on and / or verbal assistance, encouragement, mentoring, and guidance.
- Ensure the comfort, safety, and personal growth of the individuals we serve.
- Assist with daily living tasks such as moving around, getting in and out of bed, dressing, bathing, personal hygiene and more.
- Light housekeeping tasks and meal preparation.
- Build relationships with persons served and teammates.
- Attend community occasions and fun activities like outdoor walks, games, and social events.
- Work on tailored outcomes for individuals and work with behavioral guidance plans as needed per person served.
- Transport persons served to appointments or other activities outside the home.
- Empower people with disabilities to live life to the fullest.
- Document progress, milestones, and action steps.
Qualifications
What We Look For :
- 18 years or older to work in residential adult programs and must be at least 21 years or older to work in child foster care homes.
- Must have good decision making, communication, and time management skills.
- Must be responsible, reliable, and able to carry out job functions without direct supervision.
- Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record as determined by Dungarvin policy. (Proof of valid DL is required).
- Current auto liability insurance.
- Computer skills for documentation.
- Ability to perform personal cares.
- Must have a high school diploma or GED Certificate
- Three years’ experience in delivery of significant behavioral health services. Must be able to demonstrate de-escalation techniques, conflict resolution, positive support methods and person-centered approach.
- A minimum of one-year of lead staff experience in residential services or a two-year degree in a related field.
- Need the ability to understand and implement behavior support plans (BSP), treatment plans, functional assessments, individualized support plans (ISP), and person-centered plans.
- Must be physically fit and be able to stand, squat, bend, or walk for long periods of time. Ability to lift 50lbs.
Skills Critical to Success :
- Ability to assess person’s mental health status through interviews and observation. Follow plan of care, de-escalation techniques, positive support role, and crisis intervention techniques.
- Ability to communicate effectively, including the ability to read, write and speak English clearly.
- Ability to assess situations and make sound judgments when given guidance and priorities. Anticipate possible outcomes of actions and react accordingly.
- Ability to work as a team member to maintain consistency and quality services; ability to exchange support, constructive criticism, and ideas with others.
- Ability to effectively work one : one with individuals and within group settings.
- Ability to plan and prioritize work to manage time effectively and accomplish assigned tasks. Ability to self-manage tasks effectively and communicate needs.
- Ability to maintain a positive professional and therapeutic rapport with individuals who struggle with significant behavioral or mental health concerns.
People employed in this position are expected to meet the qualifications of an unlimited driver. The definition of the driving requirement is :
Unlimited driving position defined as one that requires an employee to drive a motor vehicle as a part of her / his Dungarvin work, including vehicles owned or leased by Dungarvin, and / or to drive a vehicle in which a person served is transported.
Additional Information
Hours Worked :
May be full or part-time; with a mixture of weekday and weekend hours. All persons in this position should be prepared to work weekends and holidays.
