Assistant Manager
Assist Store Manager in managing and promoting all aspects of the business, including but not
limited to buying, selling, pricing, sales, merchandising, loss prevention, assistance with staff
recruitment, training, and development. Promote a high level of customer service and
involvement, and continually strive for innovative solutions and alternatives in bettering the
business. This position requires night, weekends and holiday availability and consist of 32 plus
hours a week.
MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Greet customers immediately, determine their needs, and handle all transactions in a
professional and enthusiastic manner.
Assist with buying, selling, pricing and merchandising by adhering to merchandising
standards, evaluating market demands, adhering to buying plan, managing stock and sales
levels, and meeting or exceeding store sales goals and purchase goals.
Assist with determining personnel requirements based on season and store schedule;
assist with staff recruitment and interviewing. Train, and evaluate current staff as
assigned throughout all stages of their development.
Become familiar with product merchandise and brand names. Seek out opportunity to
buy used goods, closeouts, liquidations, and campus buy days, etc.
Assist in the establishment and monitoring of appropriate security procedures including
POS system and open / close procedures and auditing buys.
Promote and role model superior customer service to all customers, every day. Ensure
that all store associates understand and support the pursuit of superior service.
Report any discrepancies, theft, or suspected theft by employees or customers to the
appropriate parties immediately.
Requirements :
High School Diploma or GED required. Some post-secondary education preferred.
1+ years prior management and supervisory experience, plus 1-2 years retail sales
experience, preferably in similar merchandise lines.
Strong leadership, organizational skills, and time management skills are critical.
Proven customer service skills and strong interpersonal communication skills required.
Sales and goal oriented.
Must have the knowledge and ability to utilize computers and related technology
efficiently. Must have night and weekend availability.
Additional Info :
Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time, up to 8 hours per day.
Lifting up to 40 lbs. without assistance. May involve heavier lifting with assistance of
team member or cart / dolly.
Bending, rotating, and reaching customary to a retail environment; including receiving,
pricing, and stocking / back stocking merchandise.
Exposure to typical retail environment and noise levels.
Able to operate a computerized sales terminal.
