About this job

We are seeking a talented and innovative Associate Creative Director, Content, to join our dynamic creative team. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the content team and Edmunds’ team (our online resource company for automotive inventory and info) to develop and execute compelling content creative strategies, YouTube videos, articles, SEO and other editorial that highlights our car shopping journey, engages our audience and elevates our brand.

You will lead a team of two writers and a designer. You will collaborate with multiple partners including content strategist, product manager, Edmunds editorial team, and others to ensure that all content aligns with our brand vision and meets our high standards of creativity and quality.

Key Responsibilities

Content Creative Strategy Development : Partner with the CarMax Creative team and Edmund’s editorial team to craft a comprehensive content creative strategy that aligns with CarMax's marketing objectives and brand goals.

This role involves synthesizing content ideas to develop a cohesive content ecosystem for CarMax.

Creative Leadership : Inspire and guide our team of three creatives to reach their full potential. Responsible for establishing a strong partnership with Edmunds' editorial teams and external content creators, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.

Present our creative work to both internal and external stakeholders, showcasing the talent and hard work of our team.

Content Creation : Oversee the creation of diverse content types, including articles, SEO, videos (both long-form and short-form), infographics, and more, ensuring consistency and quality across all platforms.

Take work from concept to design to final execution on time, and on budget

Brand Alignment : Ensure all content is aligned with brand guidelines and effectively communicates our editorial message.

Partner with the Brand Creative team to execute high-quality creative across channels.

Campaign Management : Develop and manage content for marketing campaigns where it’s needed, product launches, and other initiatives, from concept to execution.

Must have strong operational project management skills in both volume and quality-concept and execution qualifications

Performance Analysis : Analyze content performance metrics and use insights to refine and improve creative content strategies.

Collaboration : Work closely with our editorial team and marketing strategy to ensure content supports overall business objectives and marketing strategies.

Innovation : Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging content formats to keep our content fresh and engaging.

Qualifications and Requirements

Education : A Bachelor’s Degree in a creative field preferred or related equivalent required.

Experience : Minimum of 7 years of experience in content creation, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.

An authentic passion for cars, car shopping, and video content. Your passion and deeply knowledgeable about our subject matter and platform, giving you instant credibility both internally and externally.

Skills :

Strong creative vision and storytelling ability.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Proficiency in creative and video tools and platforms (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, YouTube).

Strong understanding of SEO, Editorial, and Content marketing best practices.

Experience in creating both long-form and short-form video content required.

Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
