Position Purpose

Under minimal supervision, the Mortgage Reinsurance Analyst will be responsible for assessing mortgage-related risks, analyzing credit risk transfer transactions, and providing insights to support underwriting and risk management.

This role will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure sound underwriting practices and contribute to overall success of our mortgage reinsurance underwriting team.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Oversee reinsurance submissions and model prospective deals in order to provide strategic insights to Senior Underwriters.

Review reinsurance contracts and agreements, and analyze changes to terms.

Conduct detailed analysis of the in-force mortgage portfolio to assess risk levels, loss trends, and performance metrics.

Prepare detailed reports and presentations for Senior Management regarding mortgage portfolio performance and potential opportunities.

Monitor market trends and provide recommendations on exposure management.

Collaborate with Investment team to review mortgage related analysis.

Education & Experience

Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Actuarial or a related field

4+ years of related experience

OR equivalent level of education and experience

Knowledge, Skills, & Competencies

Strong analytical and quantitative skills.

Proficient in financial modeling and data analysis tools.

Excellent understanding of mortgage securitization or mortgage reinsurance structures.

Demonstrates considerable knowledge of the mortgage underwriting, credit risk transfer, and the macroeconomic influences on the housing market.

Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely, and influence stakeholders.

Attention to detail and accuracy in assessing mortgage risk and maintaining large data sets.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and work collaboratively.
