About The Position
Job Title : Sterile Processing Technician Job Specialty : Acute Care - Sterile Processing Technician Job Duration : 13 weeks Shift : 5x8-hour shifts, with weekend on-call rotation every 5 weeks Guaranteed Hours : Information not provided Experience : Minimum of one year required License : Information not provided Certifications : Basic Life Support (BLS) required Must-Have : One year of experience Job Description : Demonstrates competency in identification, decontamination, processing, and sterilization of surgical instruments.
- Thoroughly understands the processing and sterilization of surgical instruments and equipment, including sterilizers, washer decontaminators, and ultrasonic cleaners following a detailed orientation.
- Independently ensures the proper operation within the department, including communication, problem-solving, equipment testing, and setup, and maintenance of critical and non-critical supplies.
- Ensures soiled instruments and equipment are decontaminated in a manner that prevents cross-contamination.- Ensures a sterile product by properly assembling items and using appropriate packaging products in preparation for terminal sterilization.
- Ensures sterility and high-level disinfection are achieved by following the appropriate procedures.- Maintains inventory and appropriate storage of sterile and sanitized items, ready for distribution to various departments upon request.
