Single or multi-department management of operations. Manages day to day operations. Directs, supervises, orients / trains, and evaluates staff.
Enforces policies, procedures, and standards of operation. Renders individualized comprehensive nursing care, based on nursing process, to meet the patient’s physical, psychological, spiritual, social, and educational needs.
Manages the staff to meet designated goals. Position is responsible for approving timekeeping, employee evaluation, meeting applicable regulatory standards, approving supply orders and department strategic planning.
Patient Care : Provides patient care according to designated standards and practices. Assists in ongoing monitoring and evaluation of the appropriateness and effectiveness of patient care.
Establishes a mechanism to track customer service performance and takes corrective action to address any issues.
Management : Participates in the development of annual budgets that reflect appropriate expenditures for personnel, supplies, and equipment.
Manages to budget; Assists with Kronos / payroll to assure accurate data entry. Participates in the interview, selection, and orientation process for new team members in collaboration with nursing management, RN staff, and other team members.
Responsible for the containment of department costs and conservation of supplies, equipment, and linen. Evaluates the department / service’s performance against specified targets and takes appropriate actions.
Participates in committees Maintains a state of continued survey readiness. Provides leadership for continued survey readiness team.
Employee Management : Responsible for day-to-day staffing and making appropriate decisions based on patient needs and skill level of caregiver.
Guides staff in the advancement of their education and leadership skills, particularly team building, conflict resolution, and delegation.
Manages employee performance by participating in evaluation process and coaching.
Assists the Director with special projects as delegated. Conducts staff meetings as needed. < / Requires a high degree of accuracy in the performance of varied responsibilities.
Personal computer skills required. Frequent contact with employees, physicians, customers, community individuals and volunteers.

SUPERVISES : Designated Unit.
MINIMUM EDUCATION : Nursing Degree from an Accredited Nursing School or Bachelor Degree in Nursing.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE : Three years relevant clinical nursing experience.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE : Two years management / supervisory experience
REQUIRED COURSE(S) TRAINING : In Cardiovascular : minimum of three to five years of Cardiovascular experience, to bedside care of Open heart patients.
In 2 EQ Nursery : minimum of three years Special Care (Level 2 EQ) Nursery experience including ventilators.
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS / REGISTRATION : CCRN or PCCN for PCU / Tele / Stepdown, CCRN for ICU / CVICU, CEN for ER, CAPA / CPAN or CNOR for Surgical Services, Maternal / Family Health Cert for WIS, RN-BC for Med-Surg, CRRN for Rehabilitation.
