Senior Occupational Therapist - Acute Care
The Senior Occupational Therapist (OT) position is responsible for formal duties for a service line, shift, and / or multiple clinics as well as functioning as a clinical expert.
This position performs patient assessments, develops plans of care, and administers treatments across a broad range of diagnoses and acuities or for a specialized service line.
The Senior OT position manages the collection of metrics, analyzes and reports on data, and develops best practices. Serving as a mentor and resource to all team members, this role conducts quality assurance audits and provides oversight of patient care to ensure optimal patient safety and customer service.
- Leads a positive work environment, establishes professional relationships, and serves as the primary point of contact for routine matters within the healthcare team
- Role models therapeutic communication and collaborates with all members of the interprofessional health care team
- Effectively implements protocols and objectives, develops skills of team members, and precepts clinical rotations and new employees
- Performs evaluations, provides education to patients and families, and advocates on patient / family's behalf
- Assesses patients regularly, coordinates and monitors quality and safety metrics, and oversees the work flow, caseload, and patient processes
- Monitors documentation of patient education, charges for services provided, and resource utilization
- Develops patient treatment protocols with research-based evidence and leads department projects and programs
