Position Summary : We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Director of Construction to oversee all field staff and play a crucial role in ensuring the success of our projects.
This position will report directly to the CEO, and will require a proactive leader who can manage all aspects of project delivery, from initial planning through to successful completion.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction processes, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with various stakeholders.
You will be responsible for supporting our design team, managing project schedules, obtaining estimates from subcontractors, and overseeing the project managers to ensure the smooth execution of our construction projects.
Key Responsibilities :
- Construction Management :
- Act as liaison between CEO and field team, ensuring clear and effective communication of all goals and directives.
- Collaborate with the project managers to ensure projects are executed profitably.
- Inspect work during weekly jobsite visits to ensure projects meet quality standards and comply with building codes and regulations.
- Address and resolve any issues that arise during construction, such as delays, technical problems, or conflicts among workers or subcontractors.
- Project Development :
- Collaborate with design team during the project planning phase to identify, address, and resolve potential problems during build.
- Redline construction documents for accuracy and compliance.
- Schedule and Planning :
- Manage the job board and develop construction schedules to meet project deadlines.
- Conduct and lead weekly construction progress meetings.
- Maintain project schedules in Buildertrend, ensuring clarity and accessibility for both the team and clients.
- Update clients with weekly progress reports via email prior to construction start.
- Assist in the acquisition of necessary permits.
- Estimating and Procurement :
- Obtain estimates from subcontractors and walk site with trades as required.
- Conduct preliminary research on rough materials and products.
- Perform project takeoffs and create and order rough material lists.
- Obtain estimates and order exterior doors, windows, and other components as needed.
- Communication and Coordination :
- Maintain open lines of communication with subcontractors.
- Track subcontractor costs and provide updates to the working estimate.
- Review all permit documentation for accuracy and compliance.
- Evaluate and compare bids from trades and subcontractors.
Qualifications :
- 5+ years of construction management experience or similar role.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, budgeting, and scheduling.
- Comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of physical construction, from foundational tasks to finishing details.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with various teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of code, permit requirements, and building materials.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- 10+ years of hands-on construction experience.
- Tech-savvy : proficient in Microsoft Office and PDF handling.
- Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Buildertrend).
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
Pay Range : $110,000 - $150,000 per year
