The Assistant Principal of Operations (APO), a key member of the school’s Leadership Team, will lead implementation and maintenance of clear operational systems while building a data-driven, service-oriented culture.
This position is central to the realization of our mission as it provides the School Leader and Assistant Principals (APs) the opportunity to focus almost exclusively on teaching and learning within the schools.
The APO will, therefore, be an individual who embraces innovation and continuous improvement, is willing to jump into projects, and relishes the challenge of finding ways to work smarter and more efficiently, all in support of ensuring the instructional staff and leaders can stay focused on teaching and learning.
Key Responsibilities
Recruits, Hires, Onboards, Develops and leads a high-performing team
- Builds a strong and diverse team with an inclusive culture that brings out each team member’s strengths and ignites actions
- Manages and develops others toward excellence in their role and with an eye toward their long-term development
- Establishes ongoing, regular cadence to facilitate collaboration, training and support of the team
- Progress monitors execution of responsibilities of the team in order to drive operational excellence
Creates and Drives school-based strategies to ensure kids are in seats every day and year over year
- Partners with families to set attendance expectations for new and existing families
- Tracks data on a daily and cumulative basis and engages with key stakeholders weekly to identify trends and actions
- Ensure that substitutes are booked and given attendance roster materials
- Works with school lead teams to train, invest, motivate and implement attendance procedures
- Partners with SRE team to execute student recruitment efforts
- Develops and execute school-based re-enrollment and cultivation plans
Design and continually evolve school-based operations policies and procedures such as arrival and dismissal
- Implements an ongoing monitoring system that reviews and addresses parent, teacher, and student feedback
- Completes safety drills and audits on given schedule
- Manages operational components of field lessons
- Maintain regular communication rhythms with families regarding important school information
Informs and manages the school budget in partnership with the School Leader
- Provides insight into non-personnel spending and data that can be used create a budget that meets the school's current and future needs
- Leverages district tools to simplify purchasing, and ensure school is in compliance with proper account management
Partners with School Support Partners (SSP) to ensure campus is safe and well maintained
- Serves as Campus Incident Command Leader and main point of contact for campus emergency management and communication
- Ensures students and staff have needed access to appropriate software and hardware and technology issues are addressed promptly
- Provides day-to-day tactical support in the areas of Transportation and Child Nutrition

Compensation and Benefits
The starting salary for this position is $67k and placement in the salary range is commensurate upon experience and internal equity.
