Job Summary :

Interprets Federal and State rules and regulations, writes policies and operating procedures for statewide implementation. Provides

leadership and oversight in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of local agency nutrition services. Provides input on grant

applications to the Contracts consultant. Assists in the preparation of funding proposals and grant applications.

Provides oversight of contracts and development and implementation of services, based on the knowledge of contractor organizations

and financial operations. Provides technical assistance through site visits to assigned contract agencies. Provides guidance, training,

observations, mentoring, monitoring, and feedback on implementation of program regulations such as eligibility, certification, food

package issuance, outreach, Value Enhanced Nutrition Assessment, Participant-Centered nutrition education activities, documentation

through the WIC management information system, customer service, staff training, and budget management. Assists in federal

management reviews and state formal management evaluations of local agencies, as necessary. Collaborates and consults with both

local and statewide advocacy groups, state and local community agencies, advisory councils, task forces, and other internal and

external stakeholders, as appropriate, to develop short and long range plans and strategies for outreach activities to new organizations

and agencies for service expansion in assigned areas. Designs, develops, implements, evaluates and updates curricula related to

federal and state nutrition and health programs. Designs and conducts ongoing training and provides up-to-date communications with

local and agency contractors. Assists in the development and implementation of all outreach and VENA-compliant nutrition education

materials. Plans, organizes, arranges, coordinates, trains, and evaluates statewide, regional and / or local trainings and conferences in

the areas of Nutrition and health education promotions. Represents the Arizona WIC Program, or other programs within the Bureau of

Nutrition and Physical Activity and the Arizona Department of Health Services. Assists the Nutrition, Breastfeeding and Training team

with various needs, including, but not limited to, customer service needs and training of local agency staff. This position is required to

perform work at / attend meetings at alternate locations and / or travel when necessary. This position is required to perform at / attend

position. Additional on-site visits to local agencies may be required. Performs other duties as required.

This position is available for remote work on a full-time basis within Arizona (including virtual office arrangements).

This position may be available for remote work within Arizona (# days per week in the office / hoteling).

This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties :

Plans, directs, implements, contracts, and evaluates the WIC nutrition services of assigned local agencies in accordance with state and federal regulations.

Performs health and program data analysis to identify service needs. Conducts site visits to participate in local agency program operations, evaluates compliance with federal and state standards of service, rules, regulations, policies and procedures and to provide technical assistance.

A minimum of biannual site visits of each agency is expected from this position. Additional on-site visits to local agencies may be required.

Based on federal and state regulations, interprets, designs, creates, tailors, conducts training,

evaluates, and updates operating procedures to implement WIC program policies and procedures and other programs within the Bureau of Nutrition and Physical Activity and the Arizona Department of Health Services.

Provides training, observes, and mentors assigned local agencies staff to build knowledge and skills. Works with assigned local agencies in implementing Participant Centered Services by modeling, coaching, and training.

Plans, organizes, and directs arrangements for seminars, workshops and special training sessions or programs of specific duration.

Assists in development of nutrition tool kits and materials for local agencies and in updates of

existing materials, nutrition care plans, review of e-Learning modules, and any other program activities. Assists in the development and implementation of all outreach and VENA-compliant nutrition education materials.

Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to develop short and long range plans and

strategies for outreach and activities to expand services. Serves as a member of technical committees , boards, task forces, advisory councils as appropriate.

Other duties as assigned as related to the position. Participates in the establishment of guidelines and policies.

Selective Preference(s) :

Registered Dietitian required. Bachelor of Science in Nutrition or nutrition-related degree & 3 years’ work experience in federal nutrition

programs such as WIC as a nutritionist, education specialist or program manager. Master’s degree in nutrition, curriculum

development, public health, training, or management preferred and may substitute for 1 year of experience. Fluency in Spanish desired.

Pre-Employment Requirements :

Registered Dietitian required.

Driver's license.
