Responsibilities :
- Operate farm equipment including but not limited to, potato marker, potato digger, potato side caster, grain / corn harvesters, and / or planters, and cultivators with a high degree of proficiency.
- Operate sophisticated fertilizer, herbicide, fungicide, insecticide application equipment and center pivots.
- Perform service and care of equipment as required.
- Partner with the Field mechanic on rebuilding equipment, such as planters and harvesters.
- Keep current with all safety devices and emergency shutdown procedures, as well as ensure all devices are functioning at all times including lockout-tagout procedures.
- Become familiar with MSDS sheets, pesticide labels and application notification procedures and champion the use of appropriate personal protective equipment.
- As needed, during planting and harvest, step in as lead which entails organizing other operators, assuring daily goals are met, as well as coordinating with management and mechanics regarding needs and conditions.
Qualifications :
- 2-4 years demonstrated experience in operating farm equipment.
- Valid, in-state driver’s license.
- First Aid and CPR certifications.
- Trade school or other relevant education desired. Previous supervisory experience a plus.
- Equipped with quality tools, as required, to properly and safely perform job assignments.
- Demonstrated display of high integrity and honesty.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Bilingual Spanish a plus.
- Proficiency with basic math skills : addition, subtraction, division and multiplication.
- Meet the physical requirements of the role which includes occasional lifting up to 70 pounds, bending, kneeling, and twisting throughout work period.
Occasional long-term standing, sitting, and walking during work.
