Summary : The Residential Supervisor has the primary responsibility for providing assistance, implementing program plans or procedures, and crisis intervention services during the hours assigned. In accomplishing this, the residential supervisor has the following duties and responsibilities :

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

  • The Residential Supervisor functions as part of the treatment team and is responsible for direct care and supervision of students from the perspective of instructor or role model.
  • The Residential Supervisor will participate in the evaluation process for residential counselors and supervise them.
  • Supervise dorm activities
  • Assist Residential Coordinator in organizing dormitories.
  • Be responsible for all equipment and supplies assigned to his / her dormitory.
  • Supervise staff and students assigned to dorm, providing in paper completion of chores, maintenance of rooms, hygiene and behavior.
  • Supervise chore assignments based on individual skills and abilities and to ensure all areas of the dormitory are clean;
  • Plan, implement and instruct students in appropriate leisure and recreational activities.
  • Plan and run daily recreational activities.
  • Be emergency on-call staff as required;
  • Run weekly dormitory staff meetings when required
  • Be responsible for all clothing and personal items and belongings of students.
  • Ensure all students in the dorm have proper clothing and hygiene products.
  • Inform maintenance department of any problems in dormitories and to ensure maintenance of the dormitory is carried out.
  • Know building and safety codes and emergency procedures.
  • Have basic first-aid and CPR certification, as well as TCI certification.
  • Report unsafe conditions (related to students, environment, equipment) to Residential Coordinator.
  • Maintain students confidentiality at all times, report all pertinent information to supervisor.
  • Possess clear working understanding of program rules and consequences.
  • Record individual student behavior / progress daily in dorm logs.
  • Read previous shift notes and complete shift notes at the end of shift
  • Clearly and concisely fill out Incident Reports as needed in a timely fashion.
  • Follow and maintain consistent daily schedule and routine.
  • Instruct students in grooming, personal hygiene and A.D.L. skills.
  • Be familiar with students ICSPs.
  • Have solid understanding of students backgrounds (pre-placement), special needs and goals.
  • Act as a role model for students : maintain appropriate personal appearance, dress and demeanor.
  • Model appropriate expression of feeling and responses.
  • Develop positive, growth-producing relationship with students.
  • Participate as a member of multi-disciplinary treatment team.
  • Offer support and feedback to team members
  • Actively participate in dorm and staff meetings, staff trainings and development of activities.
  • Pursue appropriate channels of communication
  • Understand the administrative structure, chain of command and program philosophy of VPI.
  • Accurately fill out time sheets.
  • Appropriately represent VPI to the community, students parents and outside agencies.
  • Staff Scheduling as needed
  • Follow all company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
