Purpose : The Controller is responsible for managing the financial activities of Vida HR, focusing on both strategic financial planning and the operational aspects of accounting.
This role involves overseeing daily accounting operations, ensuring accurate and timely preparation of all financial reports, and conducting financial analysis to support the company's objectives.
The Controller will work closely with the CFO to forecast financial trends, manage financial controls, and ensure compliance with accounting principles and regulatory requirements.
This position is a primarily remote office role which will require once weekly to once monthly onsite days in the Colorado Springs office.
Essential Responsibilities :
- Accounting Operations Management : Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and tax-related activities.
- Financial Planning & Analysis : Lead financial forecasting, planning, and budgeting processes, providing insights to inform strategic decision-making.
- Financial Reporting : Ensure the accurate and timely preparation of financial reports, monitoring financial performance to identify trends and ensure accuracy.
- Tax Compliance : Oversee and ensure timely filing of all tax payments, providing backup support as needed.
- Banking Activities : Manage daily banking activities related to payroll disbursements for 100+ client entities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to financial controls.
- Financial Audits & Controls : Supervise financial audits and control activities, ensuring appropriate preparation and responses.
- Payroll & Transaction Management : Manage accounting for multiple companies' payrolls and handle a high volume of daily transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial controls.
- Accounting Principles & Procedures : Develop, maintain, and enforce accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Process Improvement : Assess current financial practices and procedures, recommending improvements to drive efficiency and accuracy.
- Ad Hoc Analysis & Projects : Conduct ad hoc financial analysis and projects as requested by senior management.
- Financial Reporting to the Board : Prepare and present financial reports to the Board of Directors on a monthly basis.
- Sales & Commission Reporting : Develop sales and commission reports, analytics, and forecasts as needed.
- Regulatory Compliance : Prepare reports required by regulatory agencies, if needed, and coordinate with external accounting firms for informational returns.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required; a Master's Degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is a plus.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation is a plus.
- 7+ years of financial management or related experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a senior leadership role.
- Expert proficiency in financial analysis and sales forecasting.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to make well-judged decisions.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks, HRIS, and Microsoft Office Suite at an expert level.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with excellent administrative and organizational abilities.
- Detail-oriented, with a strong focus on accuracy and quality of work.
- Ability to present numerical data effectively and interpret complex financial information.
- Proven track record of working under tight deadlines and delivering high-quality work consistently.
- Ability to handle confidential information responsibly.

Salary Range : $77,500 - $92,500
