Perdue AgriBusiness is seeking an Associate Oil Sales Rep to conduct commercial trading activities associated with palm and other vegetable oils.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Trade vegetable oil and soybean oil co-products while maximizing earnings for Perdue, with minimal supervision
- Prospect and develop new vegetable oil accounts while maintaining excellent, long-term relationships with existing customers
- Analyze market information impacting vegetable oil markets including supply and demand reports, stock reports, etc. Stay informed of logistics including tank car utilization, lease car rates, truck and rail freight rates, and fuel surcharge and the impact on refined oil margins.
- Execute hedging activities to support customer sales. Ensure hedges are done properly, maintain margins, and minimize risks to Perdue
- Collaborate with the supply planning team and external stakeholders to ensure the efficient flow of oils to the refinery and ex-tank customers
- Interact, support, and coordinate with Operations, Accounting, Soy Processing, and Transportation groups.
- Service customers in areas of market information, contract balances, logistics, and accounting issues; including, A / R issues and collection, and ensure all customer needs are met
Minimum Education
BS Degree in Agriculture, Ag Economics, Business or a related field
Experience Requirements
- 0 - 2 years of customer service and / or sales experience required
- 1 - 3 years of trading / merchandising experience preferred
Experience Preferred
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Working knowledge of cash commodity trading and CBOT
- Sales knowledge and negotiations skills
- Strong working knowledge of and proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook and PowerPoint
- Strong organizational and time management skills
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
Able to operate a motor vehicle and travel to and from customer locations. Able to move freely about farms and other agricultural areas.
Exposed to external weather conditions to include rain, snow, and extreme temperatures (-15 - 90 Degrees Fahrenheit), humidity, (0 -%), and noise (50db to db).
Able to use standard office equipment to include telephone, computers, copiers etc. Able to lift up to 50 pounds. Some overnight travel may be required.
Must be comfortable in all types of food processing and industrial environments.
