Position Summary
The Department of Theatre and Dance at The University of Alabama invites applications for a full-time instructor of acting for the 2024 / 2025 academic year.
Appointments to the faculty of The University of Alabama are based on the personnel requirements of the University’s academic programs and on the goal of achieving and maintaining excellence in its teaching, research, and service / academic citizenship activities.
Detailed Position Information
The Department of Theatre and Dance at The University of Alabama invites applications for a full-time instructor of acting for the 2024 / 2025 academic year.
Responsibilities consist of teaching undergraduate and graduate courses which may include Acting One, Introduction to Theatre, Theatre History, Playwriting, Showcase Preparation, Careers in Theatre, Stage Combat, and One Person Show Development.
Mentor and advise undergraduate actors and writers. Participation in MFA / BFA recruitment activities, both on campus and off, will also be required.
Minimum Qualifications
MFA in Theatre required, MFA in Acting required.
Preferred Qualifications
Record of professional acting and / or playwriting preferred. Experience teaching and / or training in Stanislavski based acting training preferred.
Experience teaching and mentoring playwrights preferred. Record of successful teaching at the university level preferred.
Candidates must demonstrate a record of successful communication and collegiality within a department or theatrical organization.
