Behavioral Health Technician / Driver (Full Time)

JOB SUMMARY :

Our Dallas inpatient rehab center provides detox and residential programming for adult men and women living in or near Luzerne County.

For clients with serious substance use disorders, detox may be an important first step in treatment. Our program ensures clients can safely withdrawal from alcohol and other substances in a comfortable, non-hospital setting.

Nurses provide medical care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We are looking for a Behavioral Health Technician to monitor clients, assist with interventions, follow treatment plans, and drive the clients to appointments.

Shift :

1st 7 : 00am - 3 : 00pm

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE :

• Preferred high school diploma or GED equivalent
• Prior experience in hospital or behavioral healthcare environment, patient care, and / or transportation is a plus.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and / or REGISTRATION :

• Active valid driver’s license
• CPR course required within 30 days of hire
• Completion of various safety trainings upon hire

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

• Transports patients to and from behavioral healthcare services
• Maintains a safe environment for patients, self, and co-workers
• Communicates to team, co-workers, and patients in a positive and professional manner
• Takes initiative to deliver the best customer service, even during times of stress
• Knowledgeable of all aspects and functionalities of the client transportation system
• Provides appropriate safety oversight and monitoring for all clients while in transport

SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS :

• Good communication skills to interact with all patients and staff
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions
• Requires frequent extended transports
• Must be able to sit for long periods
• Excellent customer service skills

WORK ENVIRONMENT :

• Contact with patients under wide variety of circumstances
• Possible exposure to patient elements
• Handles emergency or crisis situations
• Subject to many interruptions and pressure to multiple calls and inquiries
• Occasionally subject to irregular hours
• Handles absentee replacement on short notice
• Personal protective equipment (masks) required when transporting patients
