Assistant Director of Nursing (RN)

Description

Wellspring Lutheran Services is a statewide nonprofit dedicated to serving seniors, families and children throughout Michigan. We are currently seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing and Staff Development / Infection Control Nurse to join our nursing team at our Covenant Skilled Nursing & Rehab Campus in Saginaw. In this combination role, you will support nursing leadership, oversee staff education and infection control programs, and ensure the highest standards of care for residents in a collaborative, team-based environment.

Responsibilities

As an Assistant Director of Nursing / SDIC with Wellspring, you will :

• Support the Director of Nursing and Administrator in managing nursing operations, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and facility regulations.
• Oversee infection prevention programs, including tracking, mapping, and mitigating communicable diseases (VRE, MRSA, C. difficile) and coordinating TB testing for staff, residents, and volunteers.
• Provide staff development through new employee orientation, annual education, skills fairs, and ongoing clinical training.
• Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for nurses and CNAs, providing guidance, supervision, and performance feedback.
• Conduct quality assurance activities, participate in QAPI initiatives, and implement action plans to improve resident care and outcomes.
• Assess, manage, and document resident wounds and skin conditions, collaborating with physicians, dietitians, and nursing staff to ensure proper treatment.
• Oversee restorative nursing services and restorative aides, developing and maintaining standards of care.
• Review EHR documentation regularly to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with care standards.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to implement resident-centered care plans and maintain the highest level of independence and well-being for residents.
• Attend care conferences, departmental meetings, and participate in survey preparation and readiness for regulatory reviews.
• Participate in the on-call rotation as needed to support staff and residents.
• Collect and analyze data from multiple sources to support decision-making and continuous improvement in nursing and restorative services.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional standards while fostering effective communication with staff, residents, families, and other stakeholders.
