The Division of Molecular Imaging and Neuropathology is looking for a motivated and creative Assistant Professor to conduct research into multiome sequencing of postmortem brain tissue to study psychiatric illness .

Duties : Conduct a multiome sequencing research program to study the neurobiology of psychiatric disorders and the mechanisms of action of medications.

Publish research findings in peer reviewed journals. Attract external grant support, particularly from the NIH or NSF. Teach and serve on committees as required.

Qualifications : PhD, MD, or equivalent degree in medicine, neuroscience, or a related area. Completion of a postdoctoral fellowship and obtaining NIH or equivalent funding support.

Preferred qualification : Expertise in postmortem human brain studies related to psychiatric diseases and their treatments Expertise in quantitative multiome sequencing studies of human brain tissue, to identify specific cell type gene expression changes in postmortem human brain Knowledge and experience in computational methods for mapping cell type-specific gene expression changes and regional relationships between those.

Experience in validating translational findings by comparing mouse datasets with human brain datasets with the goal of correlating gene expression levels in mice and humans with different phenotypes and treated with specific drugs.
