BAE Systems in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Senior Principal Software Engineer to support the Integrated Survivability Solutions (ISS) product line, in the Countermeasures & Electromagnetic Attack Solutions business area.

As an industry leader in EO / IR and RF technologies, ISS is dedicated to advancing multi-platform detection, tracking and defeat of incoming threats to support aircraft, ground vehicle and maritime survivability.

In this role, you will :

• Lead a team of software developers working on software implementation for our state-of-the-art threat detection solutions.
• Design, develop, and test complex software and tools for EO / IR technologies.
• Ensure effective communication between assigned engineers and all other participants in the design process.
• Use existing processes and evolve processes to utilize the most effective new techniques as they become available.
• Participate in external project interactions with customers and other companies.
• Collaborate with Systems, Hardware, and Test engineers in one or more phases of the program including : Project Planning, Requirements Development, Design, Development, Integration and Test.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

• Bachelor's Degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field, and minimum of 8 years work experience or equivalent experience.
• Eligible to obtain a DOD Security Clearance.
• High-level language proficiency in C.
• Extensive background in embedded and / or application software development in one or more : C, Python, Java, Ada.
• Foundation in Object-Oriented design and implementation principles.
• Experience with software and systems engineering processes, methodologies, and tools.
• Experience performing software testing, validation, and verification activities.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

• Experience with Real-time Embedded Software Development.
• Experience with Agile Development and DevSecOps.
• Experience developing Linux and Windows Operating Systems.
• Experience or willingness to code in Ada and Python.
• Experience using software tools like Jira, Confluence, BitBucket, Gitlab.
• Experience with Containers including Docker, Podman or Kubernetes.
• Software automated test development and execution.
• Software modeling experience.
• Software algorithm development.
• Software Leadership experience.
• Exposure to managing cost and schedule of software projects.

Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires US citizenship status.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range : $115,100 - $195,700. This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to : business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
