Position Overview :

United Construction Company is currently seeking a Project Architect responsible for researching, designing, and producing accurate, complete, and detailed permit and construction drawings.

The Project Architect ensures designs are completed within the prescribed timeframe and terms of the contract agreement.

Responsibilities : Design Process

Design Process

  • Review zoning and CC&Rs to ensure site designs adhere to local ordinances and regulations.
  • Understand site constraints in preparing study plans and designs accordingly.
  • Prepare submittals for design reviews, zoning variances, and S.U.P.s.
  • Consult with owners to determine functional and spatial requirements of new structures or renovations, and prepare information regarding design, specifications, materials, color, equipment, estimated costs, and construction time.
  • Proficient 3D modeling using Revit Architecture.
  • Plan project layouts and integrate engineering elements into unified designs for design manager and owner review and approval.
  • Prepare project designs and plans using Revit Architecture.
  • Coordinate work of various design disciplines.
  • Ensure final drawings meet all established design criteria.
  • Work with Design Manager to establish drawing production standards.
  • Prepare scale drawings and contract documents in sufficient detail and quality for smooth bidding and construction turnover.
  • Prepare submittals for permits to city and county authorities.
  • Prepare submittals to utility companies and water resources.
  • Perform energy calculations per state and federal code.
  • Coordinate drawings for responses to plan reviews.
  • Administer construction contracts and conduct periodic on-site observation of work to monitor compliance with plans.
  • Respond to Requests for Information promptly and completely.
  • Review shop drawings.
  • Prepare As-Built Drawings.

Customer Presentations

  • Provide technical support and preparation for customer proposal meetings and presentations.
  • Assist in the coordination, gathering, and preparation of plans, graphics, exhibits, and leave-behinds for customer presentations.
  • Participate in customer meetings and presentations as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise design associates and draftsmen.
  • Assist Management in interviewing, hiring, and training employees.
  • Conduct performance reviews with Design Manager.

Customer Relations

Establish good working relationships with customers for every project.

Internal Relations :

Foster good working relationships and communication with all internal departments, including Operations, Estimating, Business Development, and Marketing & Communications.

External Relations

  • Maintain good working relationships and communication with all external departments, including Architectural and Engineering Consultants, Governmental Agencies, Subcontractors, and Customers.
  • Enhance and improve United Construction’s reputation through professional actions, presentations, services, and deliverables.

Continuous Improvement

  • Continuously improve practical and technical approaches to keep United Construction competitive.
  • Strive to improve the quality of our products and services.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Architecture from a four-year college or university.
  • 6-10 years of related experience and / or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have a valid Nevada driver’s license.
  • Current NV architectural certification / license required.

Software Requirements :

  • Extensive experience with Revit Architecture and Bluebeam.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to learn and effectively operate other software types.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions and deal with abstract and concrete variables.

Physical Demands

  • The employee must regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to sit; occasionally stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl; and taste or smell.
  • Must regularly lift / move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift / move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment :

  • Office work environment is usually quiet; fieldwork noise levels can vary from moderate to severe.
  • Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock.
