Real Estate Portfolio Accountant

Are you a skilled accountant with a passion for real estate? We are seeking a talented Property Accountant to join our team our clients growing team.

As a Property Accountant, you will work closely with the Controller and collaborate with the Management team to ensure accurate financial reporting and analysis across our impressive portfolio.

Your expertise will be crucial in maintaining the integrity of financial transactions and assisting with special projects.

Salary $90,000 - $100,000 depending on experience.

This role is hybrid, 3 days in the office per week

Primary Responsibilities of the Portfolio Accountant :

  • Analyze, compile, and report data across the portfolio, working independently on special projects.
  • Monitor and prepare account analysis, operating expenses, and reconciliations.
  • Ensure accuracy of recurring and past due charges through thorough review of preview statements.
  • Calculate and record depreciation and amortization of fixed assets.
  • Process accounts payable for cash receipts and prepare journal entries.
  • Prepare budgets for rental income and analyze rent schedules.
  • Generate monthly financial reports / statements and provide support for accounting questions and reviews.
  • Collaborate with Property Managers to ensure financial compliance with procedures.
  • Evaluate and prepare annual budgets and review expense ledgers.
  • Assist with reconciling balance sheets and income statements.
  • Supervise accounting information and provide support to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with loan and bond documents.
  • Assist in maintaining records of all accounts receivables.
  • Analyze property level balance sheets and cash flow statements.
  • Participate in various acquisitions processes and ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies.
  • Provide support in interpreting complex documents for loans and agreements.
  • Interact with building management and owner representatives on financial and operational matters.
  • Review and analyze lease documents for their impact on financial statements.
  • Prepare monthly capital commitment tracking and forecasting package.
  • Coordinate with auditors or tax departments to respond to inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Foster collaboration with property teams for synergy and high-quality financial information.
  • Research and assist with technical accounting issues as required.
  • Ensure legal compliance and maximize asset value.

Portfolio Accountant Requirements :

  • 5+ years of general accounting experience.
  • Commercial real estate
  • Proficiency in Excel is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Management, or Administration is preferred.
  • Experience with Yardi software is preferred.
