We currently have an amazing opportunity for a Speech Language Pathologist to work with our students who are in a day and residential service setting focusing on speech and language goals, including assessments and curriculum development for their assigned group of students.

The goal of maximizing independence serves as the foundation of all Center programs. Each program has been developed to address varying skills and multiple levels of functioning.

The Center serves students between the ages of 3 and 22 diagnosed with autism, learning disabilities, language delays, intellectual disability, behavior disorders, and related disabilities.

The Center's programs and services are designed to accommodate a broad range of functional levels and varying degrees of disability.

Responsibilities :

  • Administer triennial communication assessments to students as part of the clinical and educational re-evaluation process : complete written report and present at re-evaluation meeting
  • Attend regularly scheduled weekly meetings to collaborate with coordinators and other specialists for the purposes of information sharing and team planning
  • Develop communication objectives at annual assessment and IEP meetings with individual case managers, provide consultative supervision for relevant objectives on the student's individualized educational plan.
  • Supervise case managers in completing communication section of quarterly progress reports
  • Assess AAC eligibility for non-speaking students and determine appropriate communication systems. Program speech generating devices appropriate to student's level of need
  • Complete assigned observations both in school, at the residence and in the community. Provide constructive feedback to teachers and coordinators; role model if needed
  • Provide in-service training to teachers and assist in team planning by attending team meetings and participating in new teacher training
  • Participate in research projects, including research design, data collection and presentation.

Qualifications :

  • ASHA certified (CCC or CF accepted)
  • Massachusetts Department of Education Certificate as Teacher of Speech, Language, Hearing Disorders, initial license (in process in CF)
  • Massachusetts Board of Registration license (or in process if CF)
  • Must have strong communication skills, interpersonal skills and ability to work in an interdisciplinary environment.
  • AAC experience preferred
  • Experience and proficiency in the application of the principles of ABA is a plus
