The general purpose of the ADON is to manage administrative and functional areas or programs within the Nursing Services Department, and to assist the Director of Nursing in overall operation of the Department in accordance with facility policies, and Standards of nursing practices and government regulations, so as to maintain excellent care of all the Resident’s needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
MANAGE AREAS OR PROGRAMS :
Manage areas or programs to include carrying out, coordinating, or managing administrative functions and area or programs related to Nursing Services which may include departmental documentation or medical records, nursing supplies, ancillary supplies or services, facility QA, Care Plans, MDS, Infection Control Program, TILES, Restorative Care, Skin Care Program, Medicare, Special Restraint or Medication Programs, Light Duty or Safety Program, Staff Scheduling, Selection, Training, Orientation or related functions and such duties that may include supervision of other staff.
SUPPORT DON :
Work with or support Director of Nursing, Administrator and Consultants in planning all aspects of nursing service to include interacting with other disciplines and departments.
May assist Director of Nursing in monitoring day to day operation of the nursing department, and to establish priorities and manage records, budgets or supplies.
Assists or supports the Director of Nursing in managing nursing care to include monitoring quality of care and resident activity, assessment of resident’s status, administer medication and treatments, admissions or discharges;
and to consult with family members and other Health Care professionals.
STAND-IN :
Fills in as acting Director of Nursing, charge nurse or other nursing positions as needed with limited or full authority as appropriate.
MANAGE COMPLIANCE :
Supports and assists the Director of Nursing to ensure compliance with State, Federal and Company QA standard, to include alerting management of potential non-compliance issues and preparation of correction plans.
COMMUNITY RELATIONS :
Develops positive relationships on behalf of the Company with Government Regulators, Families, Areas Health Care Community and the Community at large.
RESIDENT’S RIGHTS :
Ensure understanding of and compliance with all rules regarding residents’ rights.
STAFF DEVELOPMENT :
Supervise, conduct and participate in department and facility education activities and staff meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing and currently licensed by the state.
Must be CPR Certified.
Completion of post-secondary education or otherwise able to read, write and follow oral and written directions at a level necessary to accomplish the job.
Must be able to relate positively and favorably to residents and families and to work cooperatively with other associates.
Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance.
Must be capable of performing the Essential Job Functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Related experience at a level necessary to accomplish the job.
