Position Function / Nature of Work :

Performs responsible janitorial work involving the care and maintenance of various municipal facilities. Work is performed under the supervision of the Public Services Director. To perform any combination of tasks describe below, subject to inspection of required standards of cleanliness with instructions. Duties are performed within the framework of pre-established policies and procedures.

This is moderate to heavy work most of the working time. Requires walking short distances; frequent standing, climbing, stooping, reaching, bending; lifting 50+ pounds, carrying / pushing / pulling 50+ pounds; good finger / hand dexterity and hand / eye coordination; good eyesight, hearing and speech; working in adverse environmental conditions ( heat, cold, rain, etc.) periodically and regular driving.

Work may include outdoor activities with exposure to dust, noise, dirt, grease, machinery with moving part, and extreme weather. The work requires the use of protective devices such as mask, goggles, and gloves.

• Maintain inventory of cleaning and paper supplies.
• Replace paper supplies and soap in all restrooms.
• Sweep, vacuum and mop floors.
• Dusts, clean and polish furniture.
• Clean bathrooms, toilets and sinks.
• Empty trash cans.
• Sets up and take down tables and chairs.
• Submit work orders.
• Assist with event preparations and clean up.
• Wash windows.
• Establish and maintain effective and professional relationships with work colleagues and supervisors.
• Change A / C filters.
• Performs custodial duties which includes picking up trash sweeping or blowing off sidewalks.
• Perform other non-essential duties as required.
