Responsibilities

While no two days are exactly the same, here are some things you will be responsible for :

  • Performing personal care tasks, including feeding, ambulation, and medical monitoring
  • Assist with fostering positive relationships between individuals served and their housemates
  • Ensuring client safety and maintaining a safe environment
  • Encouraging self-help activities
  • Accompanying clients to scheduled appointments

    • Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Ability to work in a group home, home-like setting
  • Ability to communicate (verbally and written) with all levels of personnel, internal and external

    Additional Job Information

    Work with a diverse population of people with mental health and / or physical disabilities, living in the community in their own apartments, assisted living programs, or their own homes.

  • Majority of work hours are in the community working face-to-face with clients
  • Provide training, education and support in all daily living skill areas.
  • Services are designed to help clients maintain or increase their independence
  • Locations include Ramsey County, and a few in Hennepin, Dakota, and Washington Counties

    • Requirements

  • 18 years of age
  • Minimum 1 year experience, preferably MI experience
  • Valid Driver's license, reliable vehicle, and current vehicle insurance with good driving record.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Establish and maintain professional boundaries
  • Good communication skills
  • Able to be accountable for your time, report your schedule to your supervisor daily, and immediately report any changes
  • Able to work in challenging environments, i.e. person served apartments, with smokers, pets, hoarders, and unclean apartments; also with persons served that may have hygiene issues.
  • Proficiency with computer skills including email and Microsoft Office
