About the School of Biological Sciences at the Georgia Institute of Technology

Graduate degree programs include : MS and PhD in Biology, MS and PhD in Bioinformatics, MS and PhD in Computational Science and Engineering as well as PhD in Quantitative Biosciences, Ocean Sciences and Engineering, and Dual Doctor of Physical Therapy / Doctor of Philosophy.

Undergraduate degree programs include 4-year BS and 5 year BS / MS programs in Biology and Bioinformatics. Research strengths include : Molecular and Cellular Biology, Computational Biology and Bioinformatics, Neuroscience, Microbial Dynamics and Infection, as well as Integrative Physiology, Evolution, and Ecology.

The School is home to the two largest and most diverse undergraduate majors in the College of Sciences : Biology and Neuroscience.

Faculty members in the School of Biological Sciences have the opportunity to work with students and faculty from across campus, including the Molecular Biomedical research community comprised by members labs from the schools of Biological Sciences, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Physics, and Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering.

Job Summary

The School of Biological Sciences ( https : / / biosciences.gatech.edu ) at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Molecular Cell Biology.

Applicants will be considered at all ranks with priority given for exceptional candidates at the assistant or early associate professor stage of their career.

We seek candidates exploring the molecular mechanisms underlying disease at the cellular level to join the dynamic, interdepartmental Molecular Biomedical research community at Georgia Tech.

Ideal candidates should focus on structural and functional aspects of macromolecular interactions and their biological implications.

Areas of particular interest include molecular compartmentalization, multi-omics, or single-cell analytical methods. Candidates are expected to demonstrate an exceptional commitment to the teaching and mentoring of students.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a nationally recognized and extramurally funded research program.
  • Teach graduate and undergraduate courses in biological sciences.
  • Advise and mentor biological sciences undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Service to the public, the university including departmental governance, and the profession.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in a biological science or related field. In addition, candidates must demonstrate all of the following :

  • Demonstrated research productivity in biological sciences or related fields.
  • Academic experience in biological sciences or related fields.
  • Clear evidence of effective teaching.
