Breast Surgery Office Practice - Registered Nurse - Staten Island - Days
The Clinical Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse who provides safe, competent, quality care based on nursing theory and research to a designated group of patients and significant others.
- Location : 1441 South Ave, Staten Island NY
- Schedule : Days (Monday- Friday, no weekends or holidays)
Responsibilities
- Assesses and evaluates patient needs for, and responses to, care rendered and applies sound nursing judgment in patient care management decisions.
- Provides direct, continuous, (where applicable), care for a specific caseload of patients through application of the nursing process based upon theory, research, and approved Department of Nursing and institutional standards.
- Coordinates patient care activities, based on established priorities, including teaching, rounding, counseling, and discharge planning, and directs / delegates appropriately to members of the health care team
- Participates in performance improvement, nursing quality, nursing research activities and utilizes same in clinical practice.
- Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for nursing practice and the delivery of safe, competent patient care.
- Maintains clinical competence and is responsible for own professional growth and development along the continuum from advanced beginner to expert.
- Functions as a professional role model and preceptor for students, new hires, and staff. Supports the mission, philosophy, standards, and objectives of the institution and department.
- RN in Breast Surgery practice supports MD tasks include but are not limited to :
- Seeing new, f / u and post-op patients in collaboration with MD
- Preparing charts in advance of visits
- Order prep entry (e.g., for radiology, labs and other procedures)
- Clinical prep and planning for surgical patients
- Telephone triage and patient clinical call management; rx orders; etc.
- Additional tasks include :
- Patient triage, vitals, assessment and rooming
- Clinical exam prep for new and f / u patients prior to providers seeing patients
- Surgical teaching / coordination
- Sends genetic testing samples
- Surgical experience required
- Requires great organization skills, detail oriented
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science with a major in Nursing. Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing hired prior to January 1995. Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing with current matriculation in a BSN program with graduation date within one year of hire will be considered by the Clinical Director of Nursing.
Requires NYS RN license)
Must have relevant clinical competence in area of nursing practice; new graduates possess current knowledge of the nursing process and its application.
Compensation
The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements.
The salary range for the role is $95,000 - $125,000 annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need.
The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses / incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
