Biomedical Equipment Technician II / III - Dubuque, IA
As a BMET II / III, you will be responsible for repairing, testing, and calibrating clinical equipment, devices, instruments, and systems.
Along with inspecting and installing clinical equipment, you will also provide scheduled maintenance. Additionally, you will offer technical assistance and advice to medical staff, technicians, and administrators.
Your expertise will encompass Biomedical Equipment Technology, as well as general maintenance. Other assigned duties may be required.
EDUCATION :
An Associate's or Bachelor's degree, or completion of a military equivalent program in Biomedical Engineering / Electronics, Electronic Technology, or a related field, is required.
A minimum of four years' experience in repairing and maintaining medical equipment is also necessary. In special cases, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered upon approval.
Having certifications such as CBET is a plus.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES
- Adhere to the policies and procedures of the hospital and department.
- Perform both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks on clinical equipment.
- Install and calibrate clinical equipment.
- Evaluate pre-purchase and contract details of clinical equipment.
- Provide clinical support and training on equipment operation to staff.
- Act as the Senior Biomed during their absence.
- Ensure compliance with the hospital's Corporate Compliance Program, including the Code of Conduct, laws and regulations, and hospital policies and procedures.
- Manage to remain free from any governmental sanctions related to healthcare and / or financial practices.
- Complete other assigned duties.
- Education : We require a minimum of an Associate's degree in Biomedical Electronics from an accredited institution.
- Experience : You should have a minimum of 3-5+ years of experience in repairing Bio-Med Equipment and patient care systems.
Compensation will be based on experience and training.
- You must possess precise eye / hand control, excellent finger dexterity, calibration skills, computer data input-extraction abilities, and the capacity to work in delicate areas with precise manipulation.
- Excellent communication skills are required to interact with internal and external customers regarding equipment purchases and training.
- You should be able to lift over 50 pounds and work in restricted and congested areas, as well as perform tasks while kneeling, stooping, and standing for extended periods.
- The ability to calculate equations, troubleshoot, analyze and evaluate problems with solutions, is necessary.
- You must have sufficient vision, hearing, and speaking abilities to carry out job duties.
- A valid driver's license is essential, as you will be required to travel to various Network locations.
- Mechanical and electrical knowledge is required, along with knowledge of electronic theory, technology, and test equipment.
Familiarity with Anatomy and Physiology, as well as Medical Terminology in relation to clinical equipment, is desired. Basic knowledge of computers, servers, networks, and Windows operating systems is also necessary.
The completion of a comprehensive background search, motor vehicle records check, and drug screening will be mandatory before hire.
