Position description

The Department of French and Italian at the University of California, Davis invites applicants for a Unit 18 Lecturer position French Literature and Culture for Winter Quarter, 2025.

Teaching duties include one upper-division French literature courses. Position requires native or near-native proficiency in French and English and knowledge of French literature.

Primary duties are to teach French 125, French Literature & Other Arts, in Winter and to hold office hours each week.

Assignment of classes, hours of instruction, and office hours are at the discretion of the department. Classes are held Monday-Friday, normally between 8 : 00 am and 5 : 00 pm.

Salary is commensurate with education, qualifications, and experience and a reasonable estimate for this position is $68,247 - $74,577 based on a full-time 100% appointment.

This appointment will be part-time. The appointment is renewable contingent on department teaching needs and demonstration of excellence in teaching.

Shared office space, access to the campus library, copier, and computer facilities will be provided.

Requirements : PhD in hand at the time of appointment; demonstrated teaching effectiveness in French language and literature.
