Position Purpose

Retail is perennially fast-paced, ever changing and at its most successful when driven by a purpose. Our purpose is to help pets lead healthier, happier lives, naturally.

We need a district manager who not only embodies that conviction, but can also imbue it across every member of our team in the region.

It requires someone who inspires people to perform at their best, engenders a stern loyalty to the Krisers Natural Pet / IPP brand, and demands that business results complement our purpose.

The District Manager will lead 8 stores while supervising 65+ retail store team members in addition to services team members in areas such as grooming and bathing in the surrounding Los Angeles area and will account for their sales and profitability achievement, operational performance, and talent management efforts.

The successful candidate must possess and entrepreneurial spirit and be able to create and maintain a consistent brand image.

Regular travel and a hands-on, high touch approach to leadership will serve the incumbent well.

Essential Job Functions

The incumbent must be able to perform all of the following duties and responsibilities* w*ith or without a reasonable accommodation.*

Sales and Profitability

  • Achieve district sales and profitability goals through consumer education and experience, payroll and expense management, and inventory and loss prevention management.
  • Ensure Krisers Natural Pet / IPP culture and pet nutrition education and messaging is woven into every stores DNA.
  • Maintain and maximize store performance through consistent and effective coaching and feedback.
  • Perform regularly occurring store visits to evaluate and identify sales growth, marketing event and customer service opportunities.
  • Liaise with HQ partners to share feedback and recommendations on product and field initiatives.
  • Create action plans to increase profit and control variable expenses, including payroll, through analysis and translation of available financial reports.

Operations

  • Ensure the highest level of customer service is achieved at all stores and partner with store employees to resolve any customer service issues.
  • Drive consistent execution of Krisers Natural Pet / IPP visual presentation directives.
  • Partner with Store Operations and Buying Supply Chain to carefully balance inventory, identify issues, and meet established merchandise standards.
  • Support Store Operations, IT and HR initiatives and ensure successful implementation of new infrastructure and systems.
  • Respond and react to all communication in a timely manner. Process district recaps and communication and share themes or trends with stores.

Talent Management

  • Communicate clear expectations and hold teams accountable Krisers Natural Pet / IPP standards of performance and behavior.
  • Network, recruit, interview and select management, store associate, services (grooming, daycare, training) level candidates.
  • Appraise and recognize employee performance.
  • Provide strategies and opportunities for retention and professional development by creating individual development plans and career pathing.
  • Continually train, mentor and monitor talent to be effective and reliable representations of the Krisers Natural Pet / IPP brand.
  • Ensure Store Managers have the ability to train, motivate and challenge store employees to increase productivity and Succession Plan effectiveness.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of multi-unit retail management experience.
  • Ability to identify, motivate and retain top talent.
  • Able to achieve high levels of performance through others.
  • Strong analytical, strategic and conceptual capabilities.
  • Familiarity with or proficiency in translating financial reports in actionable goals.
  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration or equivalent work experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite : Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A sense of adventure and able to incorporate fun into work.
  • Passion for Pets. Thats why we exist!
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with the natural pet retail industry.

Work Environment

Operates in a standard office environment. The majority of job duties are performed while seated indoors with little or no exposure to hazards.
