Responsibilities :
- Responsibilities include preparing correspondence, legal documents including editing and formatting appellate briefs, and organizing files;
- assisting assigned attorneys with meetings, hearings and trials including preparing notebooks; scheduling and calendaring;
and assisting with client billing and preparing expense reports.
The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications :
- A general working knowledge of the rules of civil procedure and e-filing in state and federal courts in Texas; knowledge of appellate procedure is helpful.
- Ability to perform work with a high level of accuracy in a high-volume and deadline driven environment.
- Accurate typing of 80+ wpm and excellent computer skills, including scanning and electronic filing of documents.
- Ability to create Tables of Contents in Word and Tables of Authority using Litera’s Best Authority for appellate briefs is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to be a productive self-starter who can anticipate needs,identify problems, find solutions, meet deadlines, and does not need heavy supervision.
- Excellent organization, time management, and communication skills.
- Ability to use MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Acrobat is essential.
- Excellent spelling and proofreading skills and experience working with adocument management system, i.e. iManage, preferred but not necessary.
