Responsibilities
Under the Director or designee, the staff nurse provides and documents, goals-oriented nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in accordance with the philosophy and policies of St.
Mary's Medical Center. The staff nurse utilizes principles of the nursing process and coordinates clinically related activities to provide for the effective delivery of healthcare.
Responsible to supervise the care given by the Licensed Vocational Nurses, Licensed Psychiatric Technicians. Hospital / Psychiatric Attendants, and other working under his / her direction.

- Assesses all systems as indicated throughout the shift. Informs physician of significant changes.
- Documents clearly and legibly all finding in the clinical record.
- Delivers care utilizing scientific principles.
- Follows established clinical policies, procedures and protocols for practice including but not limited to medication administration, IV and blood therapy, Universal Body Substance Precautions.
- Recognizes signs and symptoms of cardiac or respiratory distress or other impending crisis; initiates emergency action, directs others and summons assistance.
- Identifies actual or potential problems amenable to nursing intervention, and enters these on the Patient Care Plan along with specific goals and interventions.
Includes patient and family in plan of care.
Provides teaching to patient / family as need is identified and documents same.

Qualifications
Requirements
- Minimum of 3-5 years combined experience in healthcare industry
- Bachelor's degree in healthcare related field or equivalent professional experience.
- Must have a current license in the State of California as a Registered Nurse.
- Must have American Heart Association BLS certification.
- Preferred element : CNOR certification, ACLS
