GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Accounting Manager is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting, including developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements.
The Accounting Manager participates in and implements monthly financial close, supervises the assignments of the accounting department staff to include general ledger, accounts payable and fixed asset;
prepares monthly management financial reporting package and executive summary schedules; coordinates and facilitates the process of documenting accounting policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Finance, Economics or related field
- 3 years prior supervisory experience in the financial reporting / general ledger area
- Proficient in computer software such as Great Plains or other large ERP system, Concur, Microsoft Office (Advanced Excel, Word)
- Knowledge of specialized functions of accounting and financial management
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensures the timely and accurate reporting of all financial information, including monthly, quarterly and year-end close.
- Meetings accounting financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances and initiates corrective actions.
- Develops accounting principles, procedures and work ethics in the organization to be followed by all the accounting staff.
- Manages the accounting staff to ensure all the work is completed accurately and within stipulated deadlines.
- Maintains accounting controls by establishing a chart of accounts; defines accounting policies and procedures.
- Confirms financial status by monitoring revenue and expenses; coordinates the collection, consolidation and evaluation of financial data and prepares special reports.
- Guides other departments by researching and interpreting accounting policy; applies observations and recommendations to operational issues.
- Ensures the accurate and timely processing of positive pay transactions.
- Ensures the monthly and quarterly bank compliance activities are performed in a timely and accurate manner.
- Supports budget and forecasting activities.
- Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Responds to inquiries from the managers regarding financial results, special reporting requests, etc.
- Works with the Corporate Controller to ensure a clean and timely year-end audit.
- Assists in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.
- Provides training to new and existing staff, as needed.
- Other assignments as required.

- This position requires constant sitting with occasional walking, standing, kneeling or stooping.

- This position must occasionally lift and / or move up to 20 pounds
- Required to move / lift physical hardware.
