Expertise with CNC programming software (Mastercam, GibbsCAM, or similar), as well as familiarity with Fanuc, Haas, or Siemens controls. Strong knowledge of machining principles, tooling, and heavy material characteristics (steel, castings, alloys, etc.). Proven ability to program for complex, tight-tolerance parts and large components. Hands-on experience supporting CNC setups and first article inspections. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Strong communication and collaboration abilities, with leadership experience preferred. Legacy Talent Search is currently seeking candidates for a CNC Programmer role in Portland, OR.
Our client is a well-established industry leader known for innovation and a commitment to delivering the highest quality products. With a focus on precision and continuous improvement, they pride themselves on maintaining excellence at every stage of their heavy industrial manufacturing process.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop, write, and optimize CNC programs for mills, lathes, and multi-axis machines used in heavy industrial applications.
- Read and interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and CAD / CAM models to create efficient machining strategies.
- Select appropriate tooling, cutting speeds, and feeds to ensure precision, productivity, and cost effectiveness.
- Work closely with machinists, engineers, and production teams to troubleshoot machining issues and refine processes.
- Support setup and prove-out of new programs on the shop floor, making adjustments as needed to achieve required tolerances.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and best practices throughout the programming and machining process.
- Document programs, tooling requirements, and process instructions to support repeatability and consistency.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to machinists and junior programmers.
- Collaborate on continuous improvement projects aimed at increasing throughput, reducing cycle times, and enhancing quality.
