MERIT BRASS is currently hiring for a 1st shift warehouse associate for our Houston, Texas location. We are a family owned and operated business for over 80 years! We offer competitive wages, excellent benefits, a 401K Plan and a great work environment! The starting pay rate is $18.

00 per hour. All new hires are eligible for a $200.00 signing bonus.

Objectives

• Supports team members to maintain efficiencies in all distribution center functions
• Complete daily functions of the role in accordance with Merit Brass safety policies and procedures
• Uphold the Merit Brass corporate mission statement, acting with a sense of urgency and upholding the

core values as published

Maintain a professional, ethical and respectful attitude while exercising teamwork

Responsibilities

Process and package customer orders per written procedures / work instructions for ground and

Truck sales orders, in-bound and out-bound transfer orders and purchase orders

• Receiving functions as needed : unloading, receiving and put-away
• Accurately pick product using scanning equipment
• Meet or exceed minimum production goals
• To assist in all activities that support shipping functions, on time delivery of product and customer

internal and external) satisfaction

• Perform other duties that may be assigned to support overall Merit Brass operations
• Willingness and ability to work overtime when asked by a management

Requirements

• High school graduate, G.E.D., or equivalent preferred
• Ability to do basic high school reading, writing, and mathematical skills including addition, subtraction,

multiplication, and division

• Ability to measure to the nearest 1 / 16
• Must be able to stand, reach, bend, push and pull bulky material for the entire shift and capable of lifting

50-70 lbs. frequently

Must be able to operate all Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT) (including but not limited to pallet jacks,

stand up / sit down tow motors, cherry pickers, Big Joes, cranes, Booms, etc.) by adhering to Merit’s

safety procedures / processes

• Excellent work habits, including punctuality, attendance and work ethic
• Ability to learn product line and corresponding identification numbers
• Ability to learn basic computer functions, bar code scanning, and operation of material handling

equipment

• Willingness to be able to work overtime as needed
• Ability to work safely, accurately, and productively in a fast paced, changing environment
• Certification or experience with powered material handling equipment preferred
• Basic computer skills, i.e., operation, inquiry, and alphanumeric entry via keyboard and / or bar code

scanning
