The Nurse Practitioner (NPII) practices as a member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team using standardized procedures to independently examine, diagnose and treat patients in collaboration with supervising physician(s).
The incumbent supports management in achieving a high-quality program for specific patient populations, for both clinical outcomes and customer service in an efficient manner.
The NP II is knowledgeable of the latest clinical trends, best practices, regulatory requirements and reimbursement patterns for patients in the
specialty program.
Requirements :
The NP II has responsibility for a special patient population. May work across care settings to
follow their patients. Schedule may have more flexibility to meet specialty patient care needs.
Three to five years of experience with specific patient population.
with appropriate experience as a specialty RN. Experienced NP is preferred.
- Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of California.
- Current certification as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) in the State of California.
- Current furnishing license to furnish medications in the State of California.
- An individual Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) License issued by the United States DEA for
Schedule III-V controlled substances. If NP will be prescribing Schedule II medications the NP must
also have the DEA license for Schedule II controlled substances.
Certification as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) from an agency accredited by the Accreditation Board
for Specialty Nursing Certification (ABSNC).
Note : All NPs hired after July 1, 2016 must have certification upon hire. NPs hired prior to July 1,
2016 have 2 years to complete their certification.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association.
- RNFA
- Experience working with all areas of neurosurgery, particularly spine
- Experience with conducting preoperative education for patient surgical preparation
- Experience with workflow standardization and orderset implementation
- Demonstrated interdepartmental collaboration
- Experience with data analysis for performance improvement suggestions
