Georgia-Pacific is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer opportunity within our corporate Electrical Center of Excellence team.
This Electrical Team is a part of a larger organization, Technology Solutions Group, that specializes in various areas of mill support.
Team members are located across the United States and work with Consumer Products, Building Products and Packaging & Cellulose mills to improve safety, productivity, and reliability in our operations.
This position is home-based, providing there is convenient access to an airport.

Reporting to the Electrical Team Lead, you will be part of the Electrical Outage Management team which is responsible for readiness and execution of outages throughout our facilities.
What You Will Do
- Ensure sites are prepared for upcoming area and cold mill outages by validating readiness, SoW and capabilities to complete electrical maintenance and repair within a set schedule.
- Ensure the quality of execution for maintaining our equipment was performed to our standards.
- Provide guidance around equipment specific SoW to ensure consistency, repeatability, and realistic timelines.
- Implement projects that provide improved safety, reliability and bring mills forward in our efforts to innovate.
- Direct input and influence on company standards for proactive maintenance.
- Support sites in troubleshooting efforts during UPE's and participate in subsequent RCAs.
- Collaboration with GP manufacturing, sourcing, operations, and business teams.
- Working with external partners to develop relationships and deliverables to provide industry competitive job execution.
- Recruiting, mentoring, and developing future engineers.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Experience leading the execution of outages and leading and directing contractors to complete projects, maintenance etc.
- Experience troubleshooting, operating and maintaining power distribution equipment (breakers, relays, switches and other similar equipment).
- Experience implementing maintenance and reliability programs within an electrical team (internal or external techs executing).
- Experience as a supervisor with responsibility for direct reports and strong leadership skills.
- Familiarity with NFPA 70B and E, along with NEC standards.
- Willing and able to travel on average 60% of the time.
What Will Put You Ahead
- Electrical Engineering Bachelor's degree or above.
- Experience working within a manufacturing / industrial environment.
- Experience working within a pulp and paper environment.
- Implementation of projects where you performed equipment upgrades, relay networking and communication, arc flash mitigation and / or similar experience.
- Ability to perform remote diagnostics of power related issues.
- Ability to interpret Power models and determine mitigation strategy.
- Ability to analyze oscillography events around Power quality and determine root cause.
- Knowledge of motor theory, especially large Synchronous motors, and the Preventative / Predictive maintenance required to upkeep.
- Comfortable with talking to operational leadership around technical decisions and impact on their process.
