Schedule : Varied Schedule, three shifts available, 6a-2p / 2p-10p / 10p-6a
Pay Rate : $20.00 / hourly.
Overview :
The National Guard sponsors a 22-week residential program. This program provides a highly disciplined and structures environment fostering academics, leadership development, physical fitness training, and personal growth for at risk youth.
They have 2 male platoons and 1 female.
Job Duties :
- Supervise students (Cadets) in the classroom, barracks, dining facility, and field trips.
- Complete barracks log and account for platoon handheld radios, chargers, stereo, refrigerator daily annotated in the barracks log platoon.
- Serve as a role model / mentor for cadets in the ChalleNGe program. Abide by the hands-off policy. Always Address cadets and the ChalleNGe staff professionally.
- Use of personal cell phones is restricted to emergencies.
- Attend mandatory in-service training classes (Cadre Course, Confidentiality, Mandated Reporting, Gang Awareness, Sexual Harassment, Fraternization, CPI, First Aid, Fire Drills) when directed by Deputy.
- Provide a first line of supervision to ensure proper accountability, control and safety.
- Ensures 100% accountability of barracks equipment (radio, charger and keys).
- Conducts Drill and Ceremony with the cadets, practicing marching and facing movements and other specific military function.
- Maintains a working knowledge of principles, practices, procedures and techniques of FM 22-5 Drill and Ceremonies.
- Marches candidates / cadets to different locations as per the plan of the day and team leader. Basic cadence required to be called by all ATACs (left, right, etc.).
- Always maintain 100% accountability of cadets while on shift.
- Provides recommendations in writing to the training Warrant Officer Cadet behavior.
- Completes required forms to include reports, Cadet ATAC counseling forms to address behavior before departing shift. However, should be completed on shift.
- Completes daily Cadet assessment forms and turns them in every shift.
- Ensures cadets do not use the gear locker, unattended nor as a hang out.
- Ensure cadets person gear in secured and safe, gray sweats labeled and stored, all footlockers have locks and cadets lock their footlockers.
- Ensure cadets are wearing the uniform of the day properly and address deficiencies with cadet and Team Leader.
- Ensure cadets have shaved daily while on shift, notify Team Leader of any issues.
- Ensure cadets are and barracks are set up as required, everything where it belongs, no gear adrift.
- Follow laundry room procedures / protocol per Team Leader. May be asked to place cadet in laundry in washer and dryer.
- Supervise cadets in the classroom, barracks, and dining facility as well as on field trips.
- Ensure cadets follow proper dining facility procedures when they enter, eat, depart that will be provided by Team Leader.
- Learng and enforces the standards from the Cadet handbook.
- De-escalates situations with the cadets, not escalate using conflict prevention (CPI) techniques as needed.
- Ensure cadets are conducting forced water hydration procedures.
- Ensure cadets are always safe, using sunscreen, wearing hats in the sun, gloves in the cold, vest as road guards.
- Ensure cadets understand proper procedures for laundry, showers, main call, dining facility, PY, phone calls, classroom procedures, procedures for submitting request forms.
- Understands the 8 core component requirements that cadets must complete prior to graduation.
- Conduct weekly military science and other training with cadets.
- Reports any self or observed violations of the Hands-Off policy to the commandant or Deputy Director immediately.
- Reads the plan of the day and shifts turnover logs and executes as per Team Leader.
- Complete any additional duties as directed by the platoon Sergeant / Team Leader, Commandant, Program Coordinator, Deputy Director or the Director.
Requirements :
- Must pass FBI background check and Child Protective Services background check.
- TB skin test required prior to start date.
- A valid Driver’s License.
Preferred :
- Experience working with children
- Previous military
- Experience in a ROTC program in high school or attended a Military school. (Fishbourne, Fork Union, VMI).
