8 : 00AM - 8 : 30PM, to include weekends and holidays.

General Summary
This role is designed for the nurse who is a clinical and professional leader at the unit level. He / she advances evidence based practices, leads unit governance initiatives, and mentors others to achieve and grow in the role of the professional nurse.
As a senior member of the practice partnership at the unit level, serves as a leader, change agent, and coordinator of patient care services within a specific service line.
Takes a leadership role in overall design and implementation of a relationship-based care system that facilitates achievement of patient outcomes, supports continuity of care and patient flow between care delivery sites, and enhances patient safety and care giver satisfaction.
Monitors the quality and cost effectiveness of nursing practice and governance systems at the unit level. Strives to provide an environment where patients, families, and colleagues collaborate in the delivery of care.
Is accountable to peers for the advancement of professional practice on the unit, and to the manager for the totality of work performance.
Is accountable to hold to the Service Standards and to the Nursing Mission, Vision and Values.

Reporting Relationships
Reports to Nurse Manager / Charge Nurse of unit to which assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Education Requirements
- An Associate Degree in Nursing is required; Bachelor of Science from a College of Nursing is preferred.
- Current Maryland RN licensure is required prior to beginning orientation.
- At least 1 year of RN experience is required.
- Employees hired on or after July 1, 2018 will be required to complete a Bachelor of Science from a College of Nursing within 5 years from the date of hire or transfer into a Clinical Nursing position.
- Professional Certification is highly encouraged and required if the individual does not have a BSN.
- If there is a gap in applied nursing experience of 5 years or more successful completion of a refresher course within past 6 months is required.
Qualifications
- American Heart Association (AHA) BLS required upon hire
- Must meet all unit specific certification requirements : (PALS, ACLS, NRP)
- Maintains all Clinical Nurse II core expectations
- Must maintain .50 FTE or greater
- Works in a Direct Patient Care Role
- No discipline greater than a verbal counseling within the past year
- Meets satisfactory level or higher on last two performance appraisals (if applicable)
- Ability to learn and use computer systems in order to manage patient information
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Working Conditions
Works inside a clean, well-lighted environment. . May be exposed to frequent interruptions and multiple crisis situations.
May be physically or verbally abused by patients. Expected to work on rotating shifts including weekends and holidays as necessary.
May be expected to work on other than regular unit to provide adequate staffing, if the need arises. Participates in temporary assignment measures of department of Nursing.
Potential for regular exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials, requiring the observance of Standard (Universal) Precautions and safe handling practices.
This position has been classified as medium exposure risk and requires the completion of an annual respirator mask fitting.
Physical Requirements
Standing, sitting, bending and walking is required 0-5 hours / shift. Involves heavy lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling (up to and in excess of 100 lbs.
0-3 hours / shift, in accordance with Safe Patient Lifting policy. Includes reaching for, fingering, grasping and handling equipment / supplies 0-3 hours / shift.
Requires hearing / listening to differentiate sounds 0-3 hours / shift. Visual acuity is necessary to read labels, charts, documents and use various instruments 0-3 hours / shift.
