Position Summary :

The LTL Shipping Specialist is part of the Distribution Center (DC) team. This role contributes to the success of the company by being responsible for all LTL shipments, ensuring customer expectations are consistently met.

The LTL Shipping Specialist supports our vision by processing LTL shipments with the current day’s ship date within our carrier’s portal and labeling them correctly so that they are tendered to the correct carrier.

Additional Information :

• This is a permanent, full-time hourly position, starting at $17.00 an hour (Non-exempt)
• Full-Time schedule is Monday - Friday 9 : 00 AM - 5 : 30 PM
• This position is based in a warehouse environment, where teamwork and efficiency are essential

Major Duties Include :

Shipping :

• Processes shipments according to the ship by date
• Prepares and manages shipping documents such as invoices, packing lists, and customs forms, ensuring compliance with local and international shipping regulations
• Designs schedules for all LTL carriers accordingly to maximize warehouse efficiency
• Properly prepares and attaches shipping labels and documents to every shipping
• Responds to phone calls and emails to address shipping inquiries, provide status updates, and resolve any shipping-related issues promptly
• Responsible for packing LTL shipments according to specifications
• Assists with the logistics of returns to the Distribution Center so they are received and processed in a timely manner
• Organizes and manages multiple priorities, including simultaneous shipping deadlines
• Tenders cargo to the carriers daily and updates them in SAP B1 accordingly
• Completes bids in the 90-minute time frame
• Communicates any difficulties in processing the day’s shipment to the Shipping Team Leader
• Coordinates with non-preferred carriers and provides them with shipping instructions

Other Duties :

• Assist with training any new team members on LTL packing and shipping processes as needed
• Assists with picking orders for shipment and assembling various types of merchandise to be shipped as assigned
• Examines and inspects containers, materials, and products to ensure that packing specifications are met
• Assists with container off loading and any other warehouse duties (wrapping pallets, load cargo to carriers, etc.) as needed
• Maintains a clean and safe work environment in assigned aisles or areas
• Contributes to department teamwork by demonstrating strong time and attendance records, especially during month-end
• Records personal daily punches and approves accurate bi-weekly time and attendance records
• Actively participates in all one-on-one and group meetings
• Performs other duties as assigned

Education, Experience & Computer Skills :

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of 2+ years’ experience in shipping in a warehouse environment
• Experience with Warehouse Management System and handheld devices
• Proficient in Microsoft Applications, Word
• Proficient with vendor portals, WorldShip UPS, DHL Portal and FEDEX Manager
• Familiar with WMS, SAP Business One

The salary / hourly range for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions, including, but not limited to, work experience, territory, geographical location, etc.
