American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Telemetry Float Pool position requiring an active AZ or compact RN license, with cardiac drip titration skills and the ability to float between units.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in the Telemetry Float Pool within an acute care setting, floating between Telemetry, Neuro, Cardiac, Medical-Surgical, and holding areas as neededCare areas include Chandler and Mercy Gilbert campuses, with notification of assignment 1.5 hours before start of shiftPatient populations include cardiac, neuro, post-surgical, oncology, ortho, and general MedSurg patients ages 15 and upNurse-to-patient ratios typically range from 1 : 3-4 on Tele and Neuro units and 1 : 4 on MedSurg units12-hour night shifts, 7 : 00 pm – 7 : 00 am, with four weekend shifts per scheduling period and requirement to work two of three major holidaysCentralized telemetry monitoring; nurses must be able to interpret EKGsCerner EMR is used in all unitsFloat between Tele, MedSurg, Neuro, Cardiac, ICU, Cath Lab, observation, and holding areas according to unit needs and your clinical competencyAssignment may require campus-to-campus floating, 9 miles apart, with proper timekeeping proceduresDaily duties include telemetry monitoring, EKG interpretation, management of post-procedural and acute medical / surgical patients, and cardiac drip titrationOrientation includes 2 days on the floor per unit floated toPass / fail skills validation for sterile technique on day one of orientationScrub color is navy throughout all unitsNo pediatrics—patients are ages 15 and olderSupport includes charge nurse (non-assigned), clinical supervisor, PCTs, and 24 / 7 RT and pharmacy coverageSpectralink phones used with call light attachment in MedSurg units\n \n Requirements\n
Active AZ or compact RN (NLC) license required at the time of considerationMinimum of 2 years of recent Telemetry experienceCurrent BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications are requiredAbility to titrate cardiac drips (e.g., Amio, Cardene, Nitro, Heparin, Dobutamine, Cardizem) down onlyExperience with Cerner EMR preferredMust pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to contract and a Sim Lab on day one of orientation; failure on either disqualifies for 6 monthsMust reside at least 50 miles from facility to qualify for travel contractCopy of driver's license required for considerationCandidates may not have been employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facilities in the past year\n Benefits\n
