Overview
The Fifth Judicial District of the Iowa Judicial Branch is seeking qualified candidates for immediate Court Reporter openings. The position will include travel within the Fifth Judicial District, with some positions requiring more travel than others, and may be assigned to work with any Judicial Officer as needed. Compensation includes base salary plus transcript income and the State of Iowa benefit package. Starting salary is dependent upon relevant courtroom experience and is expected to be at the base of the pay range for new State of Iowa Judicial employees.
Hours : Monday – Friday 8 : 00 AM – 4 : 30 PM

Key Responsibilities
Captures court testimony and proceedings with stenography machineReads back court testimony and proceedings upon requestPrepares transcripts, performs general office workMarks and records exhibits during court proceedingsPerforms related work as determined by Judge, Chief Judge or designeeElectronic document filing required in all counties within District 5May be required to work for any Judicial Officer in the 5th District per operational needsTravel requiredCourt Reporter will purchase and maintain court reporting software and stenotype machines and / or verbatim recording equipmentWhat’s in it for YOU

Education, Experience, and Special Requirements
Graduation from an accredited high school (or High School Equivalency).Must meet one :Be a registered Professional Reporter (RPR) from the National Court Reporters Association.Be a Certified Verbatim Reporter (CVR) from the National Verbatim Reporters Association.Completed a court reporter training program.Special Requirements
Must obtain an Iowa Certified Shorthand Reporter license within one year of employment.
