The College of Sciences (CoS) cultivates curiosity, encourages exploration, and fosters innovation to develop scientific solutions for a better world.

Job Summary
Serve as subject matter expert and primary advisor within a college or an academic related or business unit on matters related to sponsored research program administration in accordance with Institute financial policies.
Plan, manage, and perform associated financial support in the areas of budgets, accounting, reporting and grant and contract administration.
Responsible for setting employee goals, assessing employee performance, providing feedback, and making pay recommendations.
This position will interact on a regular basis with : faculty and staff. This position typically will advise and counsel : faculty and staff.
This position will supervise : assigned staff.
Responsibilities
Job Duty 1 -
Manage, coordinate, and perform sponsored research pre-award activities to include proposal development, formatting, review and submitting;
budget, and fringe and overhead rates application; and database entry.
Job Duty 2 -
Manage, coordinate, and perform post-award activity to include faculty liaison, monitoring expenditures and compliance and report generation.
Job Duty 3 -
Manage sponsored research related accounting operations including budget updates, financial reporting, Salary Planning and Distribution (SPD), sub agreements and financial forecasting.
Job Duty 4 -
Provide advice to the school's business operations management regarding issues related to sponsored research plans, proposals and projects.
Job Duty 5 -
Plan, direct and monitor activities of grants administration and / or grants accounting staff responsible for sponsored research support.
Job Duty 6 -
Liaise with management and staff within Office of Sponsored Programs and Grants & Contracts Accounting regarding sponsored research grants and contracts issues.
Job Duty 7 -
Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Experience
Three to five years job related experience
Preferred Qualifications
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Certified Research Administrator, Certified Pre-Award Research Administrator, or Certified Financial Research Administrator Supervisory experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
SKILLS
This job requires professional knowledge of financial / accounting principles and practices as applied in sponsored research environment.
Working knowledge of proposal development and related regulatory requirements is required as is use of office and spreadsheet related computer applications and specialized applications and databases related to grants and contract administration.
Also required are skills in planning, attention to detail, problem solving, and communications.

Other Information
This position reports to the College of Sciences Associate Director for Research Administration and will perform and coordinate pre-award activities for the large scale proposals and support grant administrators in six schools.
This position will help faculty to prepare documents and lead them through the proposal submission process, gather documents for proposal submission and enter in submission portal, check documents for accuracy, review solicitations for upcoming proposals, create proposal budgets and follow GT and sponsor budget guidelines, and enter proposals into eRouting.
Other duties include, but are not limited to :
- Help gather process documents to include on internal Teams site and support six schools
- Work with team on standardizing pre-award processes within CoS
- Collaborate with Assoc. Dir of Research Admin on institute or college initiatives
- Run monthly / quarterly reports and provide guidance on them
