Position Summary :
As a Senior CAT Scan Technologist, you will perform routine and specialized imaging procedures, preparing patients for examinations and assisting radiologists during procedures.
Your expertise in operating and maintaining state-of-the-art equipment will ensure high-quality diagnostic images. You'll adhere to established radiology standards of care, applying principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patients, yourself, and others.
Taking on responsibility for assigned areas and duties, you'll contribute to the hospital's commitment to outstanding customer service.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities :
Follow client's Performance Standards, Policies, and Behaviors.
Position and prepare patients for specific examinations, ensuring accurate documentation and adherence to protocols.
Assume responsibilities for designated areas and procedures, producing high-quality technical images and reviewing completed exams for quality and completeness.
Assist physicians during procedures as needed.
Perform equipment quality assurance and calibrations, and ensure the availability of necessary supplies.
Maintain cleanliness in work areas, equipment, and accessories.
Process images or print CDs when required.
Handle routine office duties, such as answering phones, checking reports, and documenting patient information.
Demonstrate professionalism and courtesy in interactions with staff and patients.
Educate patients and their families about ordered examinations.
Provide age-appropriate care based on the needs of diverse patient populations.
Perform duties such as attending staff meetings, participating in in-services, and adapting to changes in duties and hours as needed.
Education & Experience Requirements :
Graduate of an allied health education program with accreditation from a radiography school or hospital-based program.
NY State DOH Licensure or Limited Permit required.
ARRT registered (RT) and radiograph (R) and / or (CT) certified, and / or NMTCB registered (CNMT).
Documented training and experience in operating CT equipment and radiation physics and protection.
Advanced CT examination / certification required within 1 year from the date of hire.
Maintain continuing education requirements as per standards set forth by governing bodies.
BLS certification through the (AHA) American Heart Association required or must be completed within 90 days of hire.
Completion of DOH IV certification preferred or by completion of a 6-month orientation.
Radiation dose pledge for Image Gently and Image Wisely through the American College of Radiology (ACR) to be performed during the orientation process and before the end of the probationary period.
