Corporate Utilities Management Specialist
Ergon Inc. seeks a full-time Corporate Utilities Management Specialist to join our Corporate Procurement Services team. The Utilities Management Specialist is responsible for overseeing and managing utility services for all company facilities. This includes reviewing, coding, and approving utility invoices, maintaining comprehensive utility databases, ensuring timely reporting of utility usage, managing account setups and terminations, and maintaining contracts with utility providers. This role ensures the accuracy and efficiency of utility expense tracking and supports sustainability and cost-saving initiatives through data-driven insights.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Review, code, and approve payment of all utility invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contractual agreements and internal controls.
- Maintain and update a centralized utility database for all company facilities, tracking usage, rates, and account information.
- Generate and distribute monthly utility usage and cost reports to business units and corporate management. Refine reporting methodologies and identify opportunities to automate or enhance data collection and analysis processes. Create dashboards and visualizations to communicate performance metrics and KPIs related to utility consumption and expenses.
- Analyze historical and real-time utility data to identify usage trends, cost fluctuations, and operational anomalies. Develop actionable insights and recommendations to support cost control, efficiency improvements, and sustainability efforts. Support internal audits and external reporting requirements with accurate and well-documented data analyses.
- Coordinate the setup, transfer, or closure of utility accounts as needed for new, existing, or vacated facilities.
- Maintain and update utility service contracts, monitor contract terms and renewals, and ensure adherence to pricing and service levels. Coordinate with Legal, Risk and internal business units for review and approval of contracts.
- Liaise with internal departments (e.g., Accounting, Facilities, Finance) and external utility providers to resolve issues and ensure smooth utility service management.
Education And Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, finance or a related field3-5 years' experience in utilities management, accounts payable, facilities management, or a similar role preferredProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and ExcelExcellent written and verbal communication skillsHighly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectivelyStrong attention to detail, accuracy, and effective time managementAbility to work independently and take initiative with minimal supervisionAnalytical skills with the ability to identify trends and anomalies in dataExperience with database management or reporting toolsExperience with energy management and sustainability initiatives is preferredFamiliarity with utility rate structures and billing practices is preferredBenefits
