Responsibilities : The IT Support Specialist is accountable for the technical expertise, assistance and project coordination necessary to install computer software products, modify / repair hardware and resolve technical problems.
This position provides technical service support, installation, maintenance and software training support and monitors / develops procedures for software solutions, personal computer and network management.
The IT Support Specialist must be familiar with a variety of IT concepts, practices, and procedures and must possess a thorough knowledge of current Microsoft Windows environments, Microsoft Office applications, as well as network and PC (physical and virtual) troubleshooting.
The IT Support Specialist must demonstrates a basic understanding of SQL and relational database concepts.
Competencies :
Education / Experience : EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE :
- Associates degree in computer science, electrical engineering or equivalent experience.
- Two or more years of progressive experience in Information Technology is required.
- Thorough understanding of current Microsoft Windows client / server environments is a must.
- Strong knowledge of computer networking, hardware, software and peripherals is a requirement.
- Familiarity with a Help Desk Environment is a plus.
- Working knowledge of SQL, SQL Server and Microsoft Access is needed.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS : Requires the ability to work independently with minimal direction yet work well within a team environment.
Requires knowledge of network protocols, computer hardware / software and peripherals. Requires excellent analytical and problem-solving skills as well as excellent communication and customer service skills.
